Pieter Bruegel’s epic masterpiece The Way To Calvary depicts the story of Christ’s Passion
set in Flanders under brutal Spanish occupation in the year 1564, the very year Bruegel
created his painting. From among the more than five hundred figures that fill Bruegel’s
remarkable canvas, THE MILL & THE CROSS focuses on a dozen characters whose life
stories unfold and intertwine in a panoramic landscape populated by villagers and red-caped
horsemen. Among them are Bruegel himself (played by Rutger Hauer), his friend and art
collector Nicholas Jonghelinck (Michael York), and the Virgin Mary (Charlotte Rampling).

Stage managers, stagehands and light and sound board operators are needed.

For the first time ever, The Royal Opera presents the story of Cinderella as told in Massenet’s opera Cendrillon. Joyce DiDonato stars in the virtuosic titular role, with mezzo-soprano Alice Coote in the trouser role of Prince Charming. Dazzling runs and sparkling coloratura shimmer throughout the evening, with French music specialist Bertrand de Billy at the podium.

Puccini‟s Il Trittico, a gem-box collection of three brief operas, runs the gamut from heart-wrenching drama to madcap farce. The tragic Il Tabarro and Suor Angelica are followed by the charming Gianni Schicchi, best known for its resplendent soprano aria, “O bio babbino caro.” Lucio Gallo, Eva-Maria Westbroek, Anja Harteros, Anna Larsson and Ekaterina Siurina are featured throughout this very special evening from the Royal Opera House.

Le Corsaire

A celebrated score of familiar music conducted by John Eliot Gardiner, and a drama of the passions of love and hate.

The Bright Stream

A laugh-out-loud comical ballet in two acts, The Bright Stream celebrates the maddening, baffling disillusion of love with both hilarious deceptions and joyful resolutions. The libretto, by Adrian Piotrovsky and Fyodor Lopukhov, tells the story of the members of a Russian farm collective in the 1930′s and their humorous interactions with a group of visiting performers during the harvest festival. Known for his precise characterization in movement, Ratmansky uses Shostakovich’s robust folk music to tell this zany tale, broadcast from the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow.

The simple story of Lise, her suitor Colas, and Lise’s larger-than-life mother who tries to marry her off to the simpleton son of a rich neighbor is both funny and touching, and filled with glorious detailed movement. La Fille Mal Gardée is perfect for ballet newcomers and irresistible to audiences of all ages.

This three-act ballet featuring Glazunov’s glorious score tells the story of Raymonda, the niece of a French countess and betrothed to the knight Jean de Brienne. Separated by Jean’s commitment to aid King Andrei II in medieval times, another suitor is so dazzled by Raymonda’s beauty that he attempts to abduct her. Filled with color, grand effects, and a rousing duel, Raymonda features choreography by Yuri Grigorovich, broadcast from the Bolshoi Ballet, Moscow.

Since 2003, Lehman Stages has been presenting special concert events featuring our amazingly talented student and alumni singers and musicians. First presented as Uptown Serenade, and then The Studio Sessions and currently The Bruckner Sessions – these concerts are an intimate affair – where singer and audience really create something special for the Bronx.
