SUMMERWORX & The Kids Rule Weekend @ Lehman College
SUMMERWORX is a summer-long performing arts festival for the entire family. SUMMERWORX was founded in 2003 and since that time it has grown in scope and popularity. SUMMERWORX now starts in early June and runs through the first week of August. Our schedule of events offers something for everyone.
We typically begin with LEHMANDANCE, an outdoor dance concert presented by the Dance Program at Lehman, then comes The Bronx International Film Festival, an event that we co-sponsor in association with the Bronx Stage and Film Company. Next we present Summer Sessions, a special concert event featuring Lehman students and alumni singing original songs and the great pieces from the American songbook.
In July we present two theatre productions outdoors. One in conjunction with the Theatre Program at Lehman and one production by our own Bronx Repertory Company.
We also present an outdoor Latin Jazz Concert featuring our own Bronx Moonlight Orchestra.
SUMMERWORX culminates in August with the much-beloved Kids Rule Weekend. The Kids Rule Weekend is a four-day event that that features two days of children’s theatre indoors and two days of of magic, fun and games, music and laughter outdoors. All free.

“I just wanted to take a minute, and thank you and your staff for organizing such a wonderful event yesterday. I attended “The Kids Rule Weekend” on Saturday with my husband and daughter. We had a wonderful time ! The organizers interacted so well with everyone, they were very friendly and encouraged all the children to participate. As a graduate of Lehman College, I was so proud of the work that you and your staff are doing. Please keep up the good work, we need more of these type of events in our community. This event gave my daughter an opportunity to see some of Lehman campus, and she told me when she gets older she wants to attend Lehman too !!!
